  • Any cross-team friction or dependencies to flag?

Feedback (5 min)

  • Feedback for the direct report (specific, recent, actionable):
  • Feedback for the manager (what is the manager doing well / could do better):

Career & Growth (5 min — not every week, but regularly)

  • How are you feeling about your growth right now?
  • Is there a skill or area you want to develop?
  • Is there work you want more of or less of?
  • Anything you want to discuss about your longer-term path?

Tips

  • The 1-on-1 belongs to the direct report — let them set the agenda most of the time.

  • Do not cancel 1-on-1s. Cancelling signals that the person is not a priority.

  • Keep a running shared doc so both parties can add topics between meetings.

  • Rotate between near-term priorities and longer-term growth so neither gets crowded out.
